The song playing in the background, "I Heard the Bells," has been a part of our Christmas for many years. No doubt you will hear this song many times again this season, and I hope that when you do, you will reflect upon these words:
....In despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said
For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
Yet pealed the bells more loud and strong
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to man."
It is inevitable that the festive nature of our holidays will be diminished by the realization that our troops are once again in harm's way. But, perhaps, the best antidote to the sad temper of these times is to reflect upon happier ones. To this end, I have assembled an album of photos from the old days in DeWitt and central NY. I hope that they will bring back wonderful memories for you and add to your enjoyment of this Holy Season. Merry Chistmas--one and all.
